Panerai Submersible Navy SEALs Watch

WASHINGTON, June 26 — Panerai has released a Submersible model bearing direct visual references to the U.S. Navy SEALs, marking the partnership with a decal on the dial at 6 o’clock. The Submersible Navy SEALs PAM01738 carries a yellow seconds hand, a color matched to the official SEALs insignia, according to the product listing. A target-style small seconds counter also appears on the dial.

The case is stainless steel at 44mm, finished in shaded anthracite, with a black matte ceramic bezel insert. Panerai widened the hour markers by 20 percent and applied 45 percent more Super-LumiNova X2 to improve visibility at depth.

Inside the case, the P.980 automatic movement holds a three-day power reserve. A stop seconds function allows a diver to sync to the exact second before descending. The brand pressure tests every case 25 percent past its rated depth of 1,640 feet before it ships.

The watch comes with two straps, a black rubber and a grey textile, both swapped without tools. The listing does not specify a price or a release date for the PAM01738.

The watch joins Panerai’s Submersible line, which has long been associated with military diving heritage. The U.S. Navy SEALs are an elite special operations force, known for their rigorous training and expertise in a variety of missions, including those that involve diving and underwater operations. As such, they require equipment that can withstand the extreme conditions they often encounter, including high pressures and low visibility.

The development of watches that can meet these demands has been an ongoing effort, with several manufacturers creating timepieces designed specifically for use in diving and other underwater applications. Panerai’s Submersible line has a long history of association with military diving, dating back to the company’s early days as a supplier of watches to the Italian Navy. The brand’s timepieces have been designed to meet the unique needs of divers, including the ability to withstand high pressures, resist corrosion, and provide clear visibility in low-light conditions.

The use of materials such as stainless steel and ceramic, as well as the application of luminescent coatings, are all features that have been developed to address these requirements. The partnership between Panerai and the U.S. Navy SEALs reflects the brand’s ongoing commitment to creating timepieces that meet the needs of elite military units.

By incorporating design elements that reference the SEALs’ insignia and heritage, Panerai is able to create a watch that not only meets the technical requirements of divers but also pays tribute to the history and traditions of this elite special operations force. The result is a timepiece that is both a functional tool and a symbol of the values and expertise that define the Navy SEALs.

The release of the Submersible Navy SEALs watch also highlights the ongoing importance of mechanical timepieces in the world of diving and special operations. Despite the advent of digital technology, mechanical watches continue to be valued for their reliability, durability, and ability to function in environments where electronic devices may be vulnerable to failure. As a result, brands like Panerai remain committed to developing and manufacturing high-quality mechanical timepieces that can meet the unique needs of divers and other users who require a reliable and accurate timekeeping device.
