The CAMON Slim 5G is TECNO\u2019s latest ultra-slim smartphone

SHENZHEN, September 8 — TECNO has unveiled the CAMON Slim 5G, the latest ultra-slim smartphone in its lineup, announced as a direct upgrade to the earlier CAMON Slim (4G) model. Here’s what it means in plain terms: the phone keeps the same sleek, thin body at 6.39mm but now runs on faster 5G networks thanks to a new chipset inside. Think of it like swapping out a reliable sedan’s engine for a hybrid version — same outer shape, but now it can go farther and handle more.

The practical upshot is better performance and future-ready connectivity without adding bulk. The device moves from the MediaTek Helio G200 Ultimate (4G-only) to the MediaTek Dimensity 7300e, enabling 5G access and a more powerful octa-core processor while maintaining the slim footprint users liked before.

Battery life sees a noticeable step up, with the capacity increased from 5600mAh on the 4G model to 6000mAh, helping the phone last longer between plug-ins. However, the wired charging speed has been adjusted downward to 45W from 60W, meaning it takes a bit more time to go from empty to full compared to the earlier version. Durability is a major highlight this time around.

The phone earns multiple layers of water and dust protection, including quadruple IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings that cover everything from splashes to high-pressure jets and even prolonged submersion. It also passes military-grade MIL-810-STD certifications for shock, vibration, and environmental stress, and has been certified by TÜV SÜD to maintain smooth performance for 60 months of sustained fluidity.

The display stays vibrant and responsive, featuring a 6.78-inch 1.5K 144Hz AMOLED panel with sharp resolution and a high refresh rate for smooth scrolling and gaming. One notable change is the shift from a curved edge-to-edge design to a completely flat panel, which may improve durability and reduce accidental touches. It retains TÜV Rheinland low blue light certification.

Camera capabilities have been significantly upgraded. The main sensor now uses a larger Sony LYTIA 700C Ultra (LYT-700C) 1/1.56-inch sensor, capturing more light and detail than the previous model’s smaller 1/2-inch Sony LYT-600 Ultra. This allows for richer photos, especially in low light, and supports multi-focal length portrait modes at 24mm, 35mm, and 50mm.

A new Super-Zoom FlashSnap feature helps freeze fast-moving subjects with clarity. The front-facing selfie camera remains unchanged at 32 megapixels, and several smart touch features return, including Rain Touch, Waterproof Case Touch, and Wet & Oily Hand Touch Recognition 2.0, so the screen stays responsive even when fingers are damp or greasy.

Design-wise, the fun, colorful camera bar with AI Mood Light from the 4G version is gone. Instead, the lenses are arranged vertically in a sleek ‘swan-neck curve’ layout inspired by the CAMON 50 series, giving the back a more refined look. Software-wise, the phone runs HiOS 16 based on Android 16, with TECNO’s latest AI tools built in.

The company is promising five years of security updates and three major Android OS upgrades, a long-term commitment that aims to keep the device feeling fresh and secure. Color options are bold and artistic, drawing from famous painters and styles: Neo Mondrian, Van Gogh Blue, Burgundy Red (highlighted as the hero shade), Rebel Pink, and Matisse Black.

While no official price was shared at launch, TECNO confirmed the phone is beginning to roll out in various markets, with local pricing to be announced per region. In select markets, buyers may receive a complimentary three-month trial of Google AI Plus’ 2TB subscription plan at no extra charge. The CAMON Slim 5G fits into TECNO’s broader push to make super-slim smartphones accessible to everyday users, continuing the ‘Slim’ theme seen earlier in the SPARK and POVA series.
